Rubin Brown Ethics Seminar with AJ Adhesives & Mid-America Packaging

October 30, 2019 – St. Louis

On October 30, 2019 Rubin Brown, a St. Louis CPA and Consulting Firm hosted Andrew Fastow, former CFO at Enron.  As part of Andy Schwartz’s CPE Credit requirements, the 2 hour Ethics Seminar was held at the St. Louis Art Museum.  Enron’s former CFO talked about how the ambiguity and complexity of laws and accounting regulations breeds opportunity for fraud.  Andrew Fastow plead guilty to securities fraud in 2004 and served 6 years in a federal prison.  The seminar was filled with 400 accountants, attorneys, auditors, and corporate directors seeking to ensure their companies not only follow the rules, but uphold the principles behind them.  Andrew Fastow, who teaches ethics at the graduate schools of Stanford, UCLA, UT and USC said, “Problems always start in the gray area.  The Challenge is to be self-aware enough to know what to do when you are in the gray area.”
